Another difference that i noticed was that Chinese mythology  has a lot of myths based on religions that are in China like Taoism,Daoism,Buddhism unlike Greek myths based on only one religion the polytheistic religion of Greek culture.

Something common in both Greek and Chinese mythology is that both of them explain things we might wonder about like where we go after we die the underworld.Those kinds of things.

One difference between Chinese and Greek mythology that i noticed was that Greek gods tend to be more involved with heroes then Chinese gods are. examples would be Athena when she helped Perseus by giving him items to help him with his quest and Poseidon's interference with Odysseus's request by sending a big storm making his ship crash.

Similarities of both Greek and Chinese Mythology

 

In both Greek and Chinese mythology  the heroes like Hercules and the monkey king help teach us lessons we need to know or is the person who helps lead the story so the person making the mistake makes the mistake. A example would be Ne Zha in the legend of Ne Zha. The boy(Yes its a boy i was shocked to hear too)caused to many problems causing his father to hate him.  Another similarity would be both Gods in Chinese and Greek mythology seek revenge on people who dishonor them. Examples would be Athena turning Medusa into a gorgon and the Chinese gods punishing  the monkey king.

Chinese Gods

In China the gods don't play much of a role like the gods did in Greek culture. Chinese Gods live in a place much like Mount Olympus except it is in the sky like heaven. Greek gods and Chinese gods both have very human like characteristics.

Greek Goddess

One of the most well known Greek goddesses is Athena, the goddess of wisdom. She appears to help Perseus fight Medusa and Hercules with his labors when he needed it and Odysseus's son Telemachus.

Another one of the most well known gods Artemis goddess of the hunt.She has control over the moon .

The goddess Aphrodite goddess of beauty and love.
















One difference between Chinese and Greek goddess are that Greek goddesses are more involved than Chinese goddesses are. I think its because of the culture of the region Chinese society is more patriarchal because it is based on Confucianism while in Greek culture girls aren't oppressed all the way.
